Painting Services in Port Perry, ON
Proper prep. Clean lines.
Paint takes a beating on the shores of Lake Scugog. Damp air feeds mildew on siding, and the freeze-thaw cycle by the lake opens every crack in an exterior finish. Our painting services in Port Perry are built around that, with more time spent on washing and priming than most people expect. We paint lakeside cottages, homes in the newer subdivisions and houses on rural acreages, inside and out.
Exterior Paint That Lasts Beside Lake Scugog
Most exterior paint failures near the water start with moisture. Mildew grows under and through the film on shaded walls, and paint applied over it lets go in patches. Wood trim that soaks up water in the fall freezes, expands and pushes the finish off from behind. By spring there's peeling at the bottom of the window casings and along the fascia, and it only spreads from there.
So exterior painting here starts well before the first brush stroke. We wash the siding and kill the mildew, let it dry properly, scrape anything loose and prime bare wood. Window and door joints where the caulk has given out get cut out and redone, since that's where water gets behind the paint in the first place. Paint goes on during a dry stretch with mild nights, so it cures before the damp comes back.
Inside, cottages have their own needs. A place that's been shut up all winter may have mildew on a bathroom ceiling or in a room that stayed cold, and that gets cleaned and coated with a mildew-resistant paint before the colour goes on. In the newer subdivisions around town, a house painter's work is more familiar: covering scuffs and swapping builder colours for your own. Exterior painting on a typical single-family home runs $2,500 to $6,000.

How painting services works
Pick your colours
If you're stuck between a few colours, we can help you narrow it down. If you've already picked, just send us the brand and colour code.
Surface prep
We fill holes, sand rough spots, clean the surfaces, tape the edges and prime wherever it's needed. It takes time, and it's where most of the difference comes from.
Painting
Coats go on evenly, one section at a time. Inside, we usually do two coats on the walls and two on the trim.
Touch-ups and cleanup
The tape comes off carefully, we touch up anything that needs it, and the room is left clean with the furniture back where it was.
Painting Services cost in Port Perry
In Ontario, interior painting usually costs $300 to $800 per room. Size, ceiling height and the amount of prep all move the number.
Painting the full interior of a 3-bedroom home generally comes to $2,000 to $5,000.
Exterior painting depends on how big the house is and what shape the surfaces are in. For a typical single-family home, expect $2,500 to $6,000. We price painting by the project, not by the hour.
Every job gets a free written estimate first, so the price is settled before work starts.

Painting Services in Port Perry: FAQ
Do you offer painting services in Port Perry?
Yes. Port Perry is part of our Durham Region service area, and we work there from our base in Bowmanville. Call or text (289) 928-5689, or request a free estimate online.
Should mildew on the siding be treated before you repaint?
Always. Paint over mildew won't bond, and the growth keeps going underneath, so dark spots would bleed back through within a season or two. We wash the walls with a mildew cleaner, rinse, let everything dry and then prime any bare wood. Skipping that step is the most common reason a lakeside paint job looks tired after only a couple of years.
Is September too late to paint the outside of our cottage?
Not usually, but the window narrows as fall goes on. Exterior paint needs temperatures above the minimum printed on the can, dry days, and nights that don't drop too low while it cures. Early fall often gives us that. If you can, book in summer, because the good painting days at the end of the season go quickly.
