Power Washing in Port Perry, ON

Years of grime, gone.

Green and black streaks on siding are a familiar sight in Port Perry, and Lake Scugog is the reason. Damp air keeps shaded walls wet long enough for growth to take hold. We offer power washing in Port Perry for siding, decks, patios and driveways, with the pressure turned down for vinyl and wood and a cleaner that kills the growth instead of just blasting at it.

Mildew Removal for Siding Near Lake Scugog

Blasting mildew off at full pressure is the wrong way to go about it. On vinyl, too much pressure drives water up behind the panels, where it sits against the sheathing and makes the moisture problem worse. On painted wood it strips paint, and bare wood siding marks easily, so it gets an even lighter touch. Our siding cleaning starts with a pre-treatment that's left to work, then a rinse at moderate pressure in steady overlapping passes so the walls come clean without streaks.

Hard surfaces get the same green film. A patio or walkway that stays damp grows algae that turns slick after rain, which is a real hazard on steps. Concrete and stone can take more pressure than siding, and the pre-treatment loosens the growth so it rinses away instead of smearing. Plants beside the patio get covered or wetted down so overspray doesn't harm them.

Cottages that sat closed all winter usually need a wash before anyone wants to use them. Pollen and a winter's worth of grime come off the deck and siding in one visit, and the deck is then ready for stain if it needs it. Power washing has a $150 minimum, and doing the siding, deck and patio together costs less than booking each separately. Add the driveway if a winter of road sand and grit has left it looking grubby.

Pedro handles power washing for driveways, decks, siding and patios. For how he approaches power washing in general, see our power washing page.

How power washing works

  1. Assess the surface

Each material needs a different pressure. Concrete can take a lot; wood siding can't. We set the pressure for each surface.

  2. Pre-treat if needed

Heavy mildew, algae or oil stains get a cleaning solution first, to loosen the buildup before we wash.

  3. Wash

We work across the surface in steady, overlapping passes at a consistent distance, so you don't get zebra stripes. Plants and landscaping are protected from overspray.

  4. Rinse and inspect

A final rinse, then a look over everything to make sure it's clean and nothing got damaged.

Power Washing in Port Perry: FAQ

Do you offer power washing in Port Perry?

Yes. Port Perry is part of our Durham Region service area, and we work there from our base in Bowmanville. Call or text (289) 928-5689, or request a free estimate online.

How long will our siding stay clean after a wash this close to the lake?

Sunny walls can go 2 to 3 years before they need another wash. Shaded walls and the side facing the water often show green again sooner, sometimes within a year or two. Keeping shrubs trimmed back from the siding and the eaves troughs flowing cuts down the water hitting the wall, and that slows the regrowth. Siding on a typical home runs $250 to $500 to wash.

Can you wash the siding right before we have the house painted?

Yes, and it should be done. Paint won't bond to dirt or mildew, so the walls need to be clean and fully dry before anyone primes. Plan on a couple of dry days between the wash and the first coat. If we're doing the painting as well, the wash is part of our prep, so you won't need to book it on its own.
