Painting Services in Pickering, ON

Proper prep. Clean lines.

How a Pickering paint job goes depends a lot on the age of the house. An older home from the 1960s to 1980s may have decades of paint on its trim and siding, while a new Seaton house usually needs corrections to the builder's paint. We provide painting services in Pickering inside and out, and the prep gets as much time as the painting does. Clean lines start with sound surfaces.

Exterior Repaints on Pickering's Older Streets

Many of the older Pickering houses are due for a repaint outside. Wood trim, fascia, garage doors and any painted siding take the weather, and once paint starts flaking, moisture gets into the wood underneath. Exterior prep on these homes means scraping loose paint, feathering the edges smooth, filling cracks and priming bare wood before any finish coat goes on. For a typical single-family house, exterior painting runs $2,500 to $6,000.

Interior painting is just as common a request in the older neighbourhoods. Trim in houses of that age often carries oil-based paint, and latex won't grip it without the right primer, so we test before painting over it. Walls may also have years of filled holes that flash through a new coat unless each one is sanded and spot-primed first.

Seaton homes are at the other end. Builder paint jobs tend to be thin, and touch-ups done before closing rarely blend with the walls around them. Paint corrections are one of the things Seaton owners call us for, often along with nail pops that need patching first. A standard bedroom usually costs $300 to $600, and the full interior of a 3-bedroom home generally lands between $2,000 and $5,000.

How painting services works

  1. Pick your colours

If you're stuck between a few colours, we can help you narrow it down. If you've already picked, just send us the brand and colour code.

  2. Surface prep

We fill holes, sand rough spots, clean the surfaces, tape the edges and prime wherever it's needed. It takes time, and it's where most of the difference comes from.

  3. Painting

Coats go on evenly, one section at a time. Inside, we usually do two coats on the walls and two on the trim.

  4. Touch-ups and cleanup

The tape comes off carefully, we touch up anything that needs it, and the room is left clean with the furniture back where it was.

Painting Services cost in Pickering

In Ontario, interior painting usually costs $300 to $800 per room. Size, ceiling height and the amount of prep all move the number.

Painting the full interior of a 3-bedroom home generally comes to $2,000 to $5,000.

Exterior painting depends on how big the house is and what shape the surfaces are in. For a typical single-family home, expect $2,500 to $6,000. We price painting by the project, not by the hour.

Every job gets a free written estimate first, so the price is settled before work starts.

Painting Services in Pickering: FAQ

Do you offer painting services in Pickering?

Yes. Pickering is part of our Durham Region service area, and we work there from our base in Bowmanville. Call or text (289) 928-5689, or request a free estimate online.

How can I tell if the trim in my older Pickering house has oil paint on it?

Rub a small spot with a cotton ball dampened with rubbing alcohol. If colour comes off on the cotton, it's latex. If nothing transfers, it's probably oil-based. Oil-based trim needs a light sanding and a bonding primer before latex goes on, or the new coat can peel off in strips. If you'd rather not test it yourself, we'll check when we come out to quote.

Our Pickering house is close to the waterfront. Does that change when you can paint outside?

It can. Mornings near the water often bring heavy dew, and paint shouldn't go onto damp siding or trim. On cool days we start later and stop early enough for the paint to set before the evening dew settles in. Late spring through early fall gives the most usable days, and we keep a close eye on the forecast before booking exterior work.
