Backyard Builds for New Lots and Township Properties

In a new subdivision the house is finished, but the yard usually isn't. A fence for privacy or the dog, a shed for the mower and bikes, a pergola over the patio: those are the projects that turn a builder's lot into a yard you use. We plan around the lot's grading and drainage, and set posts and footings deep enough to stay put through frost. A shed placed at a low point in the yard sits in water every spring, so we look at where the ground drains before choosing a location.

Out in Cameron, Little Britain, Woodville and the rural parts of the township, there's more room to work with, and shed building can go bigger than a backyard kit. A covered patio structure or a long run of fence fits easily too. Site conditions count for more on a rural lot, so we look at the ground, access and slope before quoting rather than after.

Not every build is outside. A mid-century bungalow's basement can be framed into a separate room or office, and older homes sometimes need a wall reframed where the original has bowed or rotted.
