Dockside Decks and Shore Stairs Around Fenelon Falls

On Cameron Lake and Sturgeon Lake properties, the decks that need the most help are usually the ones closest to the water. A low deck by the dock or a lakeside platform has little airflow underneath, and the boards and joists stay damp long after a rain. Rot tends to start where wood sits against wood, under board ends, on top of joists and around posts. Those spots look fine from above until a board gives under someone's foot.

Stairs down to the shore deserve a close look too. A run of steps on a slope sits partly in the ground, takes the worst of the freeze-thaw and often gets less attention than the main deck. On price, a handful of replacement boards might total $200 to $500, railings are about $20 to $50 a linear foot, and full rebuilds start around $3,000 for a small deck.
