Painting Services in Cobourg, ON

Proper prep. Clean lines.

Interior paint is a regular request in Cobourg, and every house needs its own prep. Tall rooms and deep trim in the heritage homes downtown, tired colour schemes in mid-century houses and exteriors facing the weather off Lake Ontario all come under our painting services in Cobourg. We fill, sand and prime first. The paint goes on after that.

Old Trim and Tall Walls in Cobourg

Paint on a Victorian or Edwardian house near King Street has usually been built up over many decades. Window casings and baseboards can carry coat after coat, with old chips and drips sealed in under each one. New paint over that only shows up every flaw. We scrape the loose spots, sand the edges so they don't telegraph through, and prime bare wood before the finish coats go on. On plaster walls, hairline cracks get filled first so they don't reappear through the new colour.

Interior painting in Cobourg's mid-century neighbourhoods south of King calls for a different kind of prep. Walls there have often been patched by several owners, and those patches show through a flat sheen. Kitchens and bathrooms may have glossy paint that new coats won't grip without a scuff sand and a bonding primer. A standard room usually costs $300 to $800 depending on size and prep, and a full three-bedroom interior is generally $2,000 to $5,000.

Outside, houses close to the waterfront take more sun and wind on the sides facing the lake, and trim on those walls usually wears first. Before quoting exterior work, we check siding and sills for soft wood, because paint won't save a rotted board. If you're looking for a house painter for the whole exterior, a typical single-family home runs $2,500 to $6,000, priced by the project and not by the hour.

Pedro handles interior and exterior painting. For how he approaches painting services in general, see our interior & exterior painting page.

How painting services works

  1. Pick your colours

If you're stuck between a few colours, we can help you narrow it down. If you've already picked, just send us the brand and colour code.

  2. Surface prep

We fill holes, sand rough spots, clean the surfaces, tape the edges and prime wherever it's needed. It takes time, and it's where most of the difference comes from.

  3. Painting

Coats go on evenly, one section at a time. Inside, we usually do two coats on the walls and two on the trim.

  4. Touch-ups and cleanup

The tape comes off carefully, we touch up anything that needs it, and the room is left clean with the furniture back where it was.

Painting Services in Cobourg: FAQ

Do you offer painting services in Cobourg?

Yes. Cobourg is part of our Northumberland County service area, and we work there from our base in Bowmanville. Call or text (289) 928-5689, or request a free estimate online.

Can we stay in the house while you paint a few rooms?

Yes. Most people stay home while we paint. We usually work one room at a time, move the furniture to the middle, cover it and put it back when we're done. A single bedroom normally takes a day. We'll plan the order with you so the kitchen or a bedroom isn't out of use any longer than it has to be.

What happens if you find soft wood or loose plaster while prepping a room?

We stop and show you before going further. Small cracks and dents are part of normal prep and already in the quote. If we find something bigger, like a window sill that's gone soft or plaster pulling away from the lath, we'll explain the repair and give you a price for it. You decide whether we fix it first or paint around it for now.
