Painting Services in Brighton, ON

Proper prep. Clean lines.

Exterior paint has a hard life this close to the lake. We offer painting services in Brighton for siding, trim, doors and decks outside, and for walls, ceilings and cabinets inside. On an exterior job, most of our time goes into prep: scraping, sanding and priming weathered wood. Paint over a poor surface won't hold up long by the water, and you'd end up paying for the same job again too soon.

Painting Brighton Homes That Face the Lake

Houses near Lake Ontario take more wind, sun and moisture than homes inland, and Brighton's siding and trim show it. Sills and the bottom edges of trim usually go first, then the walls that face the weather. Once paint starts to peel, water gets into the wood and the peeling speeds up. We scrape back to a sound edge, sand, spot-prime bare wood and caulk open joints before any finish coat goes on.

Timing matters for exterior painting. Paint needs dry days and mild temperatures, so the work fits into the same May to October stretch when the town is at its busiest. If you want the outside done for summer, book in spring. Exterior work on an average single-family house costs $2,500 to $6,000, depending on size and surface condition, and we price it by the project.

Inside, plenty of owners like to freshen up before the busy season. Rooms in newer builds often still have flat builder paint, which marks easily and doesn't wipe clean, so a washable eggshell or satin is a sensible upgrade in hallways and kids' rooms. In older homes close to downtown, expect more filling and sanding before the colour goes on. Cabinets can be painted too, with sanding, priming and several thin coats. Interior rooms usually cost $300 to $800 each.

How painting services works

  1. Pick your colours

If you're stuck between a few colours, we can help you narrow it down. If you've already picked, just send us the brand and colour code.

  2. Surface prep

We fill holes, sand rough spots, clean the surfaces, tape the edges and prime wherever it's needed. It takes time, and it's where most of the difference comes from.

  3. Painting

Coats go on evenly, one section at a time. Inside, we usually do two coats on the walls and two on the trim.

  4. Touch-ups and cleanup

The tape comes off carefully, we touch up anything that needs it, and the room is left clean with the furniture back where it was.

Painting Services cost in Brighton

In Ontario, interior painting usually costs $300 to $800 per room. Size, ceiling height and the amount of prep all move the number.

Painting the full interior of a 3-bedroom home generally comes to $2,000 to $5,000.

Exterior painting depends on how big the house is and what shape the surfaces are in. For a typical single-family home, expect $2,500 to $6,000. We price painting by the project, not by the hour.

Every job gets a free written estimate first, so the price is settled before work starts.

Painting Services in Brighton: FAQ

Do you offer painting services in Brighton?

Yes. Brighton is part of our Northumberland County service area, and we work there from our base in Bowmanville. Call or text (289) 928-5689, or request a free estimate online.

How long should exterior paint last on a house near the lake?

It varies with the paint, the prep and how exposed each wall is. Sheltered sides can go many years. Walls facing the lake and the afternoon sun wear out sooner, and trim usually needs attention before the siding does. Touching up trim and sills every few years, instead of waiting for a full repaint, keeps water out of the wood and pushes the bigger job further down the road.

Would painting just the trim and front door this year save money?

Yes, and it's a good way to stretch a budget. Trim, sills and doors take the worst of the weather and show wear first, so that's where paint does the most good. We'll quote the trim-only job and the full exterior so you can compare. If the siding is still sound, it can often wait a few more seasons.
