Cracked Grout Lines and Tired Tub Seals

In new builds around Bowmanville, grout cracking in fresh tile is a common complaint, and it usually shows up in the corners. Where the tub meets the wall, or where two walls meet in a shower, the joint moves as the framing dries and the house settles. Grout is rigid, so it cracks. Re-grouting the corner just starts the cycle again. The fix is to rake the grout out of that change of plane and run a bead of 100% silicone, which flexes with the movement.
