Painting Services in Bobcaygeon, ON

Proper prep. Clean lines.

Paint on a house beside the water has a harder life than paint in town. Wind, damp air and freeze-thaw all work at it, and on exposed walls it starts to chalk and lift sooner than you'd expect. Our painting services in Bobcaygeon cover cottage exteriors, trim and siding, plus interiors in year-round village homes. Pedro does the prep properly, because on a lake property that's what decides whether the finish lasts.

Paint That Stands Up to Lake Weather

Around Bobcaygeon, the outside of a house simply needs attention more often. A cottage facing Pigeon Lake or Sturgeon Lake takes wind straight off the water, and moisture works into any joint or crack where the old paint has opened up. Once that wood goes through a winter of freezing and thawing, the paint over it blisters and peels. Painting over the problem gives you a nice look for one summer and not much more.

So prep is most of the job. Loose paint comes off, the edges get sanded back so they don't show through, and soft spots in the trim are repaired before any primer goes on. Bare wood gets primed. On fascia and siding that faces the lake, we look hard at the caulked seams as well, since a failed joint behind fresh paint will push it off again. Exterior painting on a typical single-family home runs $2,500 to $6,000, priced by the project.

Timing matters for seasonal owners. Outside work needs dry weather, so it belongs in the warmer months. Interior painting is another story. If your place sits empty once the season wraps up in October, that's a good window to repaint rooms without working around guests and wet towels. Interior rooms are usually $300 to $800 apiece, with size and prep setting the price. We usually use Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams, unless you'd rather we use another brand.

Pedro handles interior and exterior painting. For how he approaches painting services in general, see our interior & exterior painting page.

How painting services works

  1. Pick your colours

If you're stuck between a few colours, we can help you narrow it down. If you've already picked, just send us the brand and colour code.

  2. Surface prep

We fill holes, sand rough spots, clean the surfaces, tape the edges and prime wherever it's needed. It takes time, and it's where most of the difference comes from.

  3. Painting

Coats go on evenly, one section at a time. Inside, we usually do two coats on the walls and two on the trim.

  4. Touch-ups and cleanup

The tape comes off carefully, we touch up anything that needs it, and the room is left clean with the furniture back where it was.

Painting Services cost in Bobcaygeon

In Ontario, interior painting usually costs $300 to $800 per room. Size, ceiling height and the amount of prep all move the number.

Painting the full interior of a 3-bedroom home generally comes to $2,000 to $5,000.

Exterior painting depends on how big the house is and what shape the surfaces are in. For a typical single-family home, expect $2,500 to $6,000. We price painting by the project, not by the hour.

Painting Services in Bobcaygeon: FAQ

Do you offer painting services in Bobcaygeon?

Yes. Bobcaygeon is part of our Kawartha Lakes service area, and we work there from our base in Bowmanville. Call or text (289) 928-5689, or request a free estimate online.

Would it make sense to have the inside painted after we close for the season?

Often, yes. An empty cottage is easier to paint, since we can move furniture, leave rooms taped overnight and work straight through without anyone needing the space. The building does need to be warm enough for paint to dry and cure, so the heat has to be on while we work. We'll settle colours with you beforehand, from a brand and colour code or by helping you narrow it down.

Our lake-facing wall peels every couple of years. Is there a fix?

Usually the peeling has a cause behind it. Moisture getting in through open joints, bare end grain or soft wood will lift any paint, however good it is. We find and repair those spots, scrape and sand back to sound paint, prime the bare wood and then repaint. A lake-facing wall will never be maintenance-free, but this should stretch the time between paint jobs.
