Spring Cleanup and Fall Winterizing Visits in Whitby

A spring visit deals with what winter left behind. That usually means checking caulking and weatherstripping for gaps, looking over the deck for loose boards before the patio furniture comes out, clearing seeds from the eaves troughs, swapping storm inserts for screens, and fixing whatever cracked or popped over the cold months. Pedro also walks the outside looking for winter damage, like a downspout knocked loose or a fence post that heaved.

The fall visit gets ahead of the cold. We clear the troughs once the leaves are down, seal gaps around doors and windows, shut off and drain outdoor taps where needed, test smoke and CO detectors, and look for anything that will let water or drafts in over winter. Booking it before the first hard frost leaves room to fix whatever turns up while the weather still allows outdoor work.

Seasonal home maintenance looks different from house to house. A character home near downtown needs more attention on windows, trim, porch boards and plaster, while a newer house in west Whitby mostly needs the small adjustments of its settling years. We don't sell formal plans, so you book the visits that suit your house. We're about 20 minutes away in Bowmanville, and there's no travel fee.
