Painting Services in Omemee, ON

Proper prep. Clean lines.

Some buildings in Omemee's village core date from the heritage era, and older painted wood punishes a rushed job. Our painting services in Omemee cover interiors and exteriors on those older places and on the single-family homes around them. Most of Pedro's time goes into prep: scraping, filling, sanding and priming. That work decides whether the new coat lasts or starts lifting after a couple of winters.

Proper Prep for Older Paint in the Village

Heritage-era houses usually carry many layers of paint, and the bottom ones weren't always put on over good prep. When the top coat flakes, it can take a layer or two underneath with it. We scrape back to a firm edge, sand the transitions so patches don't telegraph through, and spot-prime bare wood before any finish coat. Rushing that stage is a common reason exterior paint fails early.

Window sashes and exterior trim take the most weather on older buildings, and that's usually where paint lets go first. We check the wood under every failed spot. If it's soft, painting over it only hides rot, so we'll show you and talk about repairing that section before it gets a coat. Exterior painting on a typical single-family home runs $2,500 to $6,000, with size and condition deciding where it lands.

Interior painting is usually simpler. Walls need nail holes filled, scuffs cleaned and primer over any patches, then two coats on walls and two on trim. A room generally costs $300 to $800 in Ontario, and we price by the project rather than the hour. If you'd like to keep most of the house usable, we can work one room at a time and move on when it's dry.

Pedro handles interior and exterior painting. For how he approaches painting services in general, see our interior & exterior painting page.

How painting services works

  1. Pick your colours

If you're stuck between a few colours, we can help you narrow it down. If you've already picked, just send us the brand and colour code.

  2. Surface prep

We fill holes, sand rough spots, clean the surfaces, tape the edges and prime wherever it's needed. It takes time, and it's where most of the difference comes from.

  3. Painting

Coats go on evenly, one section at a time. Inside, we usually do two coats on the walls and two on the trim.

  4. Touch-ups and cleanup

The tape comes off carefully, we touch up anything that needs it, and the room is left clean with the furniture back where it was.

Painting Services in Omemee: FAQ

Do you offer painting services in Omemee?

Yes. Omemee is part of our Kawartha Lakes service area, and we work there from our base in Bowmanville. Call or text (289) 928-5689, or request a free estimate online.

The paint on our siding leaves a powder on my hand. Can you paint straight over it?

Not straight over it. That powder is chalking, which means the old paint is breaking down at the surface. We wash it off, let the siding dry, and check that what's left is sound before priming. New paint on top of chalk has nothing solid to grip and tends to peel early. We'll quote the exterior in writing once we've looked at it.

Is it worth painting the original wood trim in an older house, or should we leave it?

If the trim has never been painted, it's worth thinking twice, because stripping paint off later is slow work. If it's already painted, we clean it, fill dents, sand lightly and use a paint suited to trim. Either way we tape and cut in carefully so the line between wall and trim stays crisp, and floors are covered before a can opens.
